At this exhibition, which will be held for the third time at DENIS TOKYO, we will be presenting the latest works in our popular portrait series.
What should I do next? What melody has been playing in your head as a hint about a theme you always worry about? ? These were the voices of top singers who have gained popularity all over the world. We have created a colorful and pop-like texture art that makes you feel like you can hear the singing voices of various people.
Nowadays, many people from all over the world have returned to Shibuya, so what kind of encounters are waiting for them through Kimekomi Art? ? I can't wait to see it.

Asako Iwamizu (Iwamizu Asako)
After building a career as a fashion designer, she began working as an artist in 2008, and has received high praise both domestically and internationally. During that time, I have traveled the world and cultivated my sensitivity to avoid visiting fabric markets in many countries. In addition, by actively using materials such as second-hand clothes and scrap materials, she has presented works that raise alarms about social issues such as current low-margin sales, excessive packaging, and the collapse of the fashion industry due to fast delivery. The creator of "Kimekomi Art" which is a sublimation of the traditional Japanese technique "Kimekomi". The colorful, pop-filled and fun works are reminiscent of a modern version of Japonism. In addition to visiting various parts of Japan and exhibiting his works, he actively holds workshops at events, and continues his circular artist activities that create new communities through communication through art.
* What is Kimekomi Art?
Dolls made of paulownia wood or wood are made to look like they are wearing costumes by carving lines into the body in the shape of the wrinkles and patterns of the clothing, and by pushing the edges of the cloth into the lines by perforating the lines (wood grain). A new artwork created using a unique method, inspired by the technique of komi dolls. We carefully fill each piece one by one without using glue or other adhesives. In addition, I mainly use recycled Styrofoam, used fabrics, and sample fabrics from the clothing making process in my works.
Experienced in the fashion industry including collection brand design, knit design, event and PR costume design, etc.
He began his career as an artist in earnest in 2008.
Received a special award at the 2010 ST Design Awards. After that, it was commercialized.
Exhibited and performed at an art show held at the Louvre Museum in France in 2015.
His art performance in Taiwan in the same year also appeared in the news.
Received the 2015 Shoto Art Museum Award for Excellence and commendation from the Governor of Shibuya Ward.
In 2016, he became fully aware of Kimekomi art and released pop and stylish works using cloth inspired by the craft technique of making Kimekomi dolls.
In June 2018, a solo exhibition and event of Kimekomi Art was held in Paris.
Received the Grand Prix at the Recycled Art Exhibition in July 2018.
Solo exhibition held at Journal Standard Square in August 2018.
In December 2019, won the Shibuya Art Festival SHIBUYA AWARD Mayor's Award.
Solo exhibition held at Ginza Mitsukoshi in March 2020.
A solo exhibition will be held at Kyobashi Galerie Floraison in July 2020.
Participated in the Terada Warehouse WHAT CAFE group exhibition in December 2020.
